It scrolls when you talk and stops when you don't
Most teleprompter software on Windows runs at a fixed speed. You pick a number, press play, and spend the take trying to keep up. Voice Sync AI listens instead. It follows the words you actually say, so if you stop for a breath, lose your place or ad-lib a line, the script waits for you.
It's matching words, not sound, so a cough or someone talking in the next room won't move it. If you're comparing apps, our post on how voice-activated teleprompters work explains how to tell the two kinds apart.
Recognition happens on your PC, not on a server. Once you've downloaded a language pack it keeps working with no internet at all. There are 22 languages, the same ones as on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android.
Running a teleprompter rig or extra screens from a PC
Plug a monitor into your PC and you can send the prompter to it. That could be:
- the monitor under the glass on a beam-splitter rig (turn on mirror mode so the text reads the right way round in the reflection)
- a second desk monitor, so your notes or slides stay on the main screen
- a TV or confidence monitor at the front of a room or a stage
There's no cap on how many you connect. Two rigs and a confidence monitor is fine, and the script follows your voice on all of them at once.
On Zoom and Teams calls
Switch to the floating window and the script stays on top of whatever else is open, whether that's Zoom, Teams, Meet or OBS. Drag it up under your webcam and make it narrow. You'll be reading close to the lens, and the meeting stays visible beside it.
The people on the call can't see it, because your webcam films you, not your screen. The one thing to watch is screen sharing: share a single window rather than the whole desktop. Our video-call guide has more on eye line and pacing.
Try it on your PC
It's free on the Microsoft Store, and on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. You don't need an account.
The rest of the app
Everything else carries over from the phone and Mac versions. You can record with the script on screen, at 720p on the free version or 1080p and 4K with Pro, and adjust focus, exposure and white balance if your camera supports it. Scripts come in from PDF, DOCX or TXT files, or you can write them in the app and sort them into folders.
You don't need an account to start. You only need one if you want your scripts to sync between devices, and it's free.
Using it alongside your phone
With Pro, your PC can join a session with iPhones, iPads, Macs and Android phones on the same Wi-Fi. Any of them can host. The others either show the script full screen or work as a remote.
One setup that works well: the PC hosts and drives the rig, and the presenter holds a phone as the remote. Our guide to host, prompt and controller roles covers the other combinations.
Pro is tied to your account, not to a device. If you already bought it on your phone, sign in on Windows with the same account and it's there, along with your scripts.
What you get for free
The free version gives you 5 minutes of voice sync a day, 720p recording and up to 3 scripts. Language packs are free. Pro lifts those limits and adds 1080p and 4K recording and multi-device sessions. It's the same on every platform. You can see the Pro plans or see how we compare with other teleprompter apps.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free teleprompter app for Windows?
Yes. Voice Sync AI is free on the Microsoft Store and you don't need an account to use it. The free version gives you 5 minutes of voice sync a day, 720p recording and up to 3 scripts, and language packs are free. Pro lifts those limits and adds 1080p and 4K recording and multi-device sessions.
Can I connect my Windows PC to a teleprompter rig or an external monitor?
Yes. You can send the prompter to the monitor on a beam-splitter rig, a second desk monitor or a TV. Turn on mirror mode for rig glass so the text reads the right way round. There's no limit on how many displays you connect.
Can I use a teleprompter on Windows during Zoom or Teams calls?
Yes. The floating window stays on top of Zoom, Teams, Google Meet or anything else you have open. Put it just under your webcam so you're reading close to the lens. Nobody on the call can see it unless you share your whole screen, so share a single window instead.
Does the Windows teleprompter work offline?
Yes. Speech recognition runs on your PC, not on a server. Download a language pack once and voice scrolling works with no internet connection. There are 22 languages, the same ones as on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android.
Can a Windows PC join a session with an iPhone or Android?
Yes, with Pro. Your PC can host a session or join one as a prompt display or remote, together with iPhones, iPads, Macs and Android phones on the same Wi-Fi.
Is it the same Pro plan on Windows as on my phone?
Yes. Pro is tied to your Voice Sync AI account, not to a device. If you bought it on your phone, sign in on Windows with the same account and it's already active. Your scripts come with it.
